Consumer Guide Reviews:

Love Current [MCA, 1979]
His first single, "Shoo Doo Fu Fu Ooh," was a young singer's whoop of triumph from the top of the world. It seemed to promise many more. But after three mediocre LPs--the first still the best--I've given up. Williams's subsequent tries at simple, ecstatic black pop have sounded like expert imitations, and most of the time he's just a love man, doing his best to shore up songs that were made to be broken. Never thought I'd believe he was better off in Tower of Power, but I do. C+
